The St. Elisabethkirche is devoted to the holy Elisabeth of Thuringen. This spot was originally the site of the Elisabeth Spital, a hostel for the poor and sick. It was one of the biggest hostel in Frankenland. The building set its mark on the architectural horizon of Nuremberg with its large dome and its scale.
