The “Heilig- Geist- Spital” was built in 1331 as a church trust and lies directly on the River Pegnitz. Besides its function as the biggest charitable institution of its time for the old and sick, it was also the storing place of the German imperial treasures between 1424 and 1796. The damage inflicted on it during the war bombardment was so heavy that it unfortunately cannot be rebuilt. The crucifix group on the pinnacle arcading was created by Adam Kraft.
