There's a scent of savoury “bratwurst”, warm gingerbread, mulled wine and herbal cough sweets in the air…every year, the world's most famous Christmas market, the Nuremberger “Christkindlesmarkt” opens its gates in the heart of Nuremberg for more than 2 million guests from Germany and abroad. As tradition will have it, the Nuremberger “Christkind”(the “Baby Jesus”) solemnly opens the Market from the balcony of the Frauenkirche at 5.30 p.m. on the Friday before the first Advent weekend.
