Nuremberg is in Bavaria in Germany

Bavaria is a state within Germany and Nuremberg sits within Bavaria. Nuremberg is not Bavaria’s capital – that honor belongs to Munich. Nuremberg is the biggest city in the Bavarian region of Franconia.

Nuremberg has historical importance since it was the hub of the so-called German Renaissance sometime after the Middle Ages ended. The Protestant Reformation had a great impact on Nuremberg during the 1520s to the 1530s. The Nuremberg Trials of 24 of the leading Nazi war criminals were also held here under the jurisdiction of the International Military Tribunal whose legal foundation was The Instrument of Surrender of Germany.
