There are lots of things to do in Nürnberg, many of which are quite touristy and sure to entertain. The Nürnberg old town is great place to see historical architecture. The Nürnberg Castle is a great place to start your tour, and in fact features tours in both German and as well as several other languages including English. Today part of the castle is used as a youth hostel. Tourists will also be able to visit the Nürnberg city wall, and the Nürnberg moat. Though the city wall is naturally in disrepair, and the moat was never actually filled and they are both fun sites to visit and offer a glimpse into the region's past. Other noteworthy additions to the old town experience are two churches that many tourists enjoy visiting; St. Seybald church, and St. Lawrence Church, both of which have a deep history just waiting to be explored by the tourist.

The Nürnberg shopping district is located in a part of old town. Interestingly the stores are arranged in an order from least expensive to most expensive in relationship to their position next to the river. The least expensive stores are the farthest away from the river, while the most expensive which carry luxury goods are located next to the river. Naturally there are other stores outside of the main shopping district, however they do not generally have much to offer for visitors, and instead are usually used by locals when they need a particular item. Naturally no visit to Nürnberg would be complete without picking up some traditional Nürnberg gingerbread.

Nürnberg is a fairly modernized city and has the infrastructure necessary to support automobiles. Car parking- car hire in Nürnberg is without incident and pretty much standard with the rest of the larger German cities. Tourists should note however that cars are not allowed in the old town district however parking is available outside of the district walls. While in old town everyone is expected to travel on foot, and since the size of the district is relatively small this is not a problem.

There are a fair number of Nürnberg hotels available including several youth hostels available for traveling students. International visitors will note a limited number of international chain hotels, though the regional hotels are quite nice and generally offer a good value for a decent room. No visit to Nürnberg would be complete without sampling bratwurst. This sausage is a staple of the region and featured in many Nürnberg restaurant menus. There is a somewhat diverse selection of international food available, though the city's restaurants do quite heavily favored traditional regional flavors.
